Fun on the Web Feb 19 2015 Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year for me has always meant getting out and sampling the great food the local Chinese restaurants have to offer, but have no fear they usually do that for a week or so. Head to Google (or your favorite search engine) and find out who has those awesome dinner for two, three or more specials in your location. I will be joining a group for a Lion Dance followed by dinner.

This is the most important of Chinese holidays, celebrated by billions of ethnic Chinese around the world. It’s a 15 day celebration ending with the Lantern Festival. Each year is represented by one of twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac. For 2015, it’s the Year of the Sheep or Goat depending on your source. Chinese New Year is one of the holidays based on lunar cycles so it varies from year to year.

Hmmm this site http://www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/2015.htm says " The first day of the 2015 Chinese New Year is on February 19, 2015 in China's time zone. This day is a new moon day, and is the first day of the first Chinese lunar month in the Chinese Lunar Calendar system."
